Edward (Ted) Loades died peacefully on January 21st 2002 in Douglas, Isle of Man, in his 93rd year.
The second of four sons of Sarah (Madge) and Edward. He is survived by his wife Olive, his brother George, children Anthony, Susan, Joan and Robert, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Ted's engineering career, which began in Grimsby, spanned 78 years. He moved to the Midlands in 1939 where he founded and built up Abbey Panels Limited, which became the principal subsidiary of his family company Loades plc. He moved to theIsle of Man in 1972, where he continued to work until his death.
His great enthusiasm for excellence in engineering within themotor and aerospace industries was the hallmark of his life, and his influence was, and continues to be an inspiration to his family and close associates.
He will be sadly missed.
